DR. CHARLES JELINEK: Invisalign is a newer technique that allows people that have minor crowding in their front teeth, have that corrected without the traditional braces. It's a very simple procedure, the patient wears clear aligners over their teeth that most people can't even see that they're wearing. Unless the patient tells their co-workers that they're wearing the invisalign, most people are totally unaware of it. The ideal patient can be the teenager, it could be the person in their 20s and 30s who's found someone special in their life, and they want to correct some crowding in the front. It can be for older patients. I have a patient that's in her 80s, and she was literally destroying her teeth because of the way her bite was coming together. And so I sat down with her and I said, “You have basically three options, one, we sit and watch these teeth break down; two, I put some crowns on your teeth, or three; you wear invisalign to get this corrected”. She said, “Well, I'm not having these teeth broken down, and I'm not having crowns”. She's in her 80s. She's very, very happy with the results of the invisalign.
